Position Description: Assistant Educator

Responsibilities:

The assistant educator is responsible for assisting with the leadership, supervision and safety of campers between the ages of 6 and 14.

The assistant educator will assist in maintaining a positive and safe teaching environment

The assistant educator will assist with pre and post camp supervision as assigned

The assistant educator will incorporate and adhere to the Camp Rules and policies at all times

The assistant educator is directly responsible to the Program Director

Qualifications:

Minimum age of 16 years

Minimum of one season work or volunteer experience working with youth between the ages of 6 and 14

Experience in a camp setting or equivalent

Certification in CPR-FPR(CPR for the Professional Rescuer) and RTE (Responding to Emergencies) is helpful

Experiential and/or educational background in one or more of these areas: child development, recreation, supervision, education, natural history/environmental education, mountain biking, and backpacking

Ability to work with people of all ages

Mature judgment and the ability to safely supervise campers

Ability to work well as a camp staff team member

Energy and enthusiasm for intensive work and long days

Effective leadership ability
