Camp Updates for 2010
theo on bikeMountain Biking - This summer we are offering programs for campers of all ages and levels.   An introductory overnight weekend program is available for campers who are at least 8 years old. In addition, we offer our "basic" week-long program and a weekend program for teenagers who are experienced Mountain Bikers.  All registrants must have their own Mountain Bike and safety equipment.  Snacks are provided. These programs are limited to 10 registrants per session.  To learn more about our Mountain Biking Program, visit our website.

Adoption Connection Programs - We are excited to once again offer an opportunity for children who have been adopted to come together for a weekend of fun and a chance to make new friends.  Earth Connection has offered this program in the past, and children who have participated have enjoyed both the opportunity to meet and get to know other adopted children and adults.  Also, after many discussions and requests by parents we have put together a couple of workshops that address special concerns when parenting adopted children. To learn more about these programs visit our Adoption Connection page on our website.

Bus Transportation from Ithaca is now included with all week-long camp registrations.  This means your child is guaranteed a space on our bus once they are registered for camp.  There is no additional fee.  Campers do not have to ride the bus, or can choose to ride it on certain days, and must just make sure to sign up for those days, so they can be accounted for.

Snacks, Lunch and Meals (for overnight programs): All campers will receive two healthy snacks every day.  Campers must bring their own lunch.  The camp does not provide lunches - with the exception of programs with "overnights."  These programs will clearly state what meals are provided with the program.  It is important that campers bring lunches with non-perishable items (not needing refrigeration) as we do not have the ability to refrigerate lunches.  We also strongly urge families to consider the packaging of lunches to reduce litter and waste.  Remember the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Family Camping Weekend:  We have designated a weekend this summer for camp families who would like to take advantage of our beautiful location in the Hammond Hill State Forest.  Spend the weekend in a cabin or campsite and enjoy hiking, biking, fishing or just hanging out at Camp Earth Connections.  There will be a staff person on duty during the entire weekend, but children are soley the responsibility of their parents and must be supervised at all times.  Enjoy the camp open-house on Saturday, and there will be a campfire program Saturday evening for all those who want ot join in.  For more information check out family camping weekend on our website.
Camp Earth Connection's Open House

Camp Earth Connection will have an "Open House" on Saturday, July 10th from Noon - 4pm.  Come check out the camp if you have not visited us before and if you have, come visit us and enjoy some food, music and activities. This is also "Family Camp Weekend," so consider renting a cabin or campsite for the weekend.  Mark this date in your calendar, and check out our Spring newsletter for updates on the day's events.
Healing Heart Women's Weekend or Day Retreat

theo on bike
"Healing Heart" Womyn's Weekend is being planned for the Fall of 2010.  The weekend will be designed to give women a chance to gather together for a  "retreat" in the woods at Camp Earth Connection.  They will have the opportunity to participate in workshops such as music, art, writing, primitive survival skills, meditation, healing techniques, and wild edible & medicinal plants.  We are living in a time where many people are so busy, and worried, that they have forgotten how to live in the moment, and enjoy the journey we are all on.  We may not realize that everything we need to acheive serenity in our lives is available at every  moment of our lives. The Earth provides us with our basic physical needs - and all the other things that we think we want or need, often will not bring us lasting joy or contentment, but usually just leads us to the next thing that we think we want or need, perpetuating the unfilliing and never-ending cycle of "more."  During this weekend, we will practice living in the moment and take the time to slow down and re-visit our  home, the Earth and what it offers, and our purpose, and what each of us has to offer on this journey of life.
Thank you for reading the Camp Earth Connection Newsletter.  Please feel free to refer to the newsletter to a friend who might be interested.  People may join our mailing list by going to the Camp Earth Connection web page.  As always, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to e-mail or call us at  (607)844-3178  (607)844-3178 .   Phone messages are checked weekly during the off-season.  E-mail is checked daily.  Wishing you a safe and peaceful winter.
Sincerely,

Susan Rausch
